Dear Mr Stricklin
I am very happy to hear from a former crew member of the Scorpion. The
barracks which will bare the name Scorpion Hall, will be the Permenant Party
Barracks for Submarine Refit Site personnel. They were givin the
opportunity to choose which boat they wanted to name thier barracks and all
hands picked Scorpion.
Scorpion Hall is located up at the old Ordenance Annex complex and was just
resently renovated. There will be a dedication ceremony on the 2nd of May
during which my wife will take pictures. I would be more than happy to send
you copies via e-mail if you would like.
Guest speakers will be Admiral Ellis, Commander Submarine Forces Pacific
Fleet, Admiral Konetzni, Commander Submarine Group Seven, and Captain Crews,
the Commanding Officer of USS Frank Cable (AS 40). I plan on mugging all of
the above for copies of thier speeches and coping them. I will send them
along with the photos if you would like.
There are plans to turn one of the rooms in the basement into a rec room and
one into a library/quite room for visiting submarine crews. The plan is
tentitively to call the rec room the Scorpion Den and name the library after
Wally Bishop, the Chief of the Boat. If you have any commments or ideas
please let me know.
Very Respectfully,
Royce W. Harvey
